Making a new friend

Making a new friend

Wings and Hooves heavily relies upon the generosity and enthusiasm of our volunteers. Without our fun, kind, and committed volunteers, it would be impossible for our horses and riders to achieve great success.

Wings and Hooves is always looking for motivated volunteers interested in helping out with the program. There are several opportunities available to our volunteers. Each and every volunteer will be asked to fill out an application and complete a mandatory training session before volunteering in any capacity. Be sure to read our FAQs before applying and please feel free to contact us with any additional questions or concerns!

Volunteer Opportunities:

Lesson Volunteer:

A lesson volunteer is responsible for assisting the instructor during the therapeutic riding lesson. Each lesson volunteer will be asked to arrive fifteen minutes prior to the lesson to assist in the preparation of the horse and tack. While the instructor conducts the lesson, one volunteer will assume the role of a “Sidewalker,” or the person responsible for focusing his/her attention on the rider during the course of the lesson. The other volunteer is considered the “Leader” and is responsible for leading the horse during a lesson and paying his/her full attention on the animal. The lesson volunteers are also asked to make sure the horses are clean, comfortable, and led back to their stalls for hay after the lesson!

Special Events Coordination:

Wings and Hooves needs volunteers to assist in the planning, organization, and execution of its various special events! The Inaugural Gala, Holiday Extravaganza, Annual Barn BBQ and Hoe-Down, and various clinics throughout the year all demand individuals to help coordinate and implement.

Office Work Volunteer:

Resources are limited here at Wings and Hooves, including office personnel! We always have office work to be completed and welcome those who are willing to assist. If you enjoy copying, faxing, filing, envelope stuffing, and candy, then please feel free to contact us as your services are much needed!

Upcoming Training Sessions: mandatory training sessions are offered twice a month. Please call the office for upcoming dates and times.
