Programs & Services
Wings and Hooves relies on the foundation of many proven, successful therapeutic strategies and structures. Our instructors are certified by the North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA), and they continue their professional development on a yearly basis so they can serve individuals with a wide variety of diagnoses and challenges. While some participants begin as young as 2 ½ and many of our enrolled participants are under the age of 18, the program accommodates adults with special needs as well. Our horses, a combination of retired show horses and pleasure horses, are passionate partners in showing our riders how to fly.
The emotional benefits of therapeutic riding are especially significant. In a world of diagnoses, therapies, and hospitals, our riders are welcomed to Wings and Hooves and celebrated for their abilities while graciously supported by dedicated staff, volunteers and horses in developing additional opportunities for success. Socially, riders are able to interact positively and develop relationships with the staff, volunteers, horses and other riders. The resulting partnerships are most beneficial in increasing confidence and building trust. More often than not, a horse becomes an unconditional and non-judgmental friend, partner and source of support for the rider.
Please note that Wings and Hooves is currently running a wait list for interested riders. We apologize for the inconvenience, but we are proud to offer several opportunities to interested participants in addition to the Core Therapeutic Riding Program. Please continue to check back for additional services as they become available!
