Who is eligble to volunteer?
We are always interested in individuals who are volunteering their time and energy in exchange for a fun, rewarding experience. The minimum age to volunteer is 14 years old, but we will accept volunteers who are 12 and older with substantial equine experience.
How do I become a volunteer?
Please contact us via phone or email at the office! We ask all of our volunteers to complete an application, undergo a background check, and complete a mandatory training session offered at various times during the month.
Do I need horse experience?
No! Many of our volunteers have never worked with horses before, so we do require your attendance at a training session in order to learn a few helpful hints before assisting with lessons.
When do you need volunteers?
Monday through Saturday during the afternoons and early evening.
Why volunteer?
Without the volunteers at Wings and Hooves, many of our riders would not be able to achieve the beneficial results of therapeutic riding. The partnership between a horse and rider is truly a unique relationship, and our volunteers help the riders to develop this relationship while also creating their own relationships with the horses and riders. Aside from being a fun time, volunteering with Wings and Hooves is also a rewarding experience.
How can I donate?
Wings and Hooves welcomes donations in all amounts and types. As we are still growing, we are only processing donations in the form of cash or check. Please feel free to call the office directly with any questions or concerns.
How much do lessons cost?
Wings and Hooves provides therapeutic lessons at no cost for the riders apart from a $25.00 session fee to assist with program operation and application processing. We operate off of generous individual and corporate contributions, as well as fundraising initiatives. If you would like to donate, please call the office for more information.
